The cathedral, designed in 1888 and begun in 1892, has its history, undergone radical stylistic changes & the interruption of the two World Wars. It remains unfinished, with construction and restoration a continuing process.

According to Wikipedia, it is the greatest indoor length (601 feet) of any cathedral in existence. On the night of December 18, 2001, a fire swept through parts of the church and was closed & reconstructed until it reopened in late November 2008.
